This week we read a lovely story “Say Hi to Hedgehogs” by Jane McGuinness. The book taught us lots about hedgehogs. We learned that about their prickles (similar to fingernails), that they are nocturnal creatures with an excellent sense of smell. We now know they prepare for hibernation by eating lots of insects. We learned about their babies (hoglets) and discovered they are white and can’t see or hear for their first few weeks.
For art, we modelled clay into hedgehogs. First we rolled the clay into balls. Then we pinched a nose into place. We added match sticks and they are now drying in our classroom. Once they are dry we will paint them and hopefully attach some eyes
