We had great fun working on our Athletics' skills for our Active Day in February. Happy Valentine’s Day from Junior Infants . We decorated cupcakes. Ms Madden's class have started Power Hour for literacy with the help of Ms Hickey and Ms Shanahan. We have decided to focus on 3 areas - reading, phonics and oral language along with an independent station. For our phonics table we work on our letter for the week, revise the letters previously learned and also work on our blending. In our oral language station Ms Shanahan works on our theme for the month' Fruit and Vegetables'. We have started on our Big Box Stories so on our reading table we read our new book with Ms Hickey and play sight word games such as word bingo and make a match. At the independent table we work on a written activity or play a game on the interactive whiteboard. As our theme is Fruit and Vegetables we read the story 'Handa's Surprise' and learned the names of some new fruits. Using pictures to help us we were able to retell the story and remember the fruits that the animals stole. We then decided to taste some of the different fruits that were in Handa's basket and recorded whether we liked each fruit or not. |
