Miss Bourke’s class had great fun doing their Christmas play called ‘The Grumpy Sheep’. All the boys did an excellent job and worked really hard during the rehearsals ! Well done boys and a very happy Christmas from room 7 ! We have started to formally write our letters in Junior Infants and love working in our writing stations to make sure we form each letter perfectly. In our first station we make the letter we are learning to write using play-dough. In the next station we write our letters on our whiteboards. On the third station we work as detectives and find our letter using highlighters. On the final station we paint the letter using different coloured paint.
The boys in Junior Infants love being creative in their art activities. For November our theme in Aistear was my home and family. We learned a lot about the members of our families, our homes and activities we do with our families in our homes. Our socio-dramatic area was the kitchen where the boys had great fun ironing, cooking dinner, making phone calls, setting the table and cleaning. In our construction area the boys worked together to make different types of houses and made sure to check that the doorways were wide enough for people to fit through. In the malleable area the boys made their families. The boys decided to design their own housing estates in the sand area. One team even managed to build 15 houses in their estate and a road so that you could get to the houses. We also had a challenge of cutting up furniture and putting them into the correct rooms.
