As we were working on the letter 'l' this week, we decided to make some lollipops. We sat down as a class and brainstormed what we needed: chocolate, marshmallows, lollipop sticks and sprinkles. Using procedural writing we went through the steps needed to make the lollipops and wrote them on the board using green for our 'bossy words'. Making the lollipops was great fun and we enjoyed eating them even more. This week Ms Moloney’s Junior Infants have been learning about floating & sinking. We did an experiment to learn more about things that float or sink. We guessed if each item would float or sink before we put in water to get our result Ms Madden's class have been really busy learning all about fruit and vegetables as part of our Aistear theme. We opened a fruit and veg stall in our class, we made fruit for our fruit bowls using playdough, the builders were busy constructing fruit stalls in the construction area, our cutting skills were put to the test sorting out fruit and vegetables, we made some lovely prints using paint and had great fun playing the 'Shopping List ' game and Fruit& Veg lotto game. Ms Moloney’s Junior Infants made some fruit salad as part of our Fruit & Veg theme in Aistear. We had great fun preparing the fruit salad & we really enjoyed eating it. Afterwards we did some procedural writing “How to Make a Fruit Salad” The Fruit & Veg theme continued in Junior Infants this week. The boys are building fruit & veg shops/stalls, taking on the role of the green grocer & categorising & colouring fruit & veg Ms Moloney's class had great fun making banana lollipops in class. They were delicious! The boys are busy making fruit and vegetable prints and visiting the Fruit&Veg shop in Aistear. After reading the book ' The Snowman' , we sequenced the steps used in creating a snowman. We then made our own snowglobes using paper plates, cotton wool and felt. The boys in Junior Infants are busy learning how to write the letters of the alphabet. |
