During the month of March we learnt all about Spring, St Patrick and then we read the Easter story. We made yellow chicks, a leprechaun, Irish flags, an Easter bunny and clay nests in art. We filled the nest with feathers and chocolate eggs. The eggs were delicious!! We had a really fun Ceili in the hall where we learnt some Irish dancing. Just before the Easter holidays we had a school raffle and some boys in our class won prizes. It was great! When we were learning about the letter v the thing that grabbed the boys attention was the volcano, so we decided to learn all about it. After learning about the structure of a volcano and why it explodes we decided to make our own. First we worked in our teams to make our volcanoes using clay. When the clay of our volcanoes had dried we painted them brown. Using vinegar, red food colouring and vinegar,Ms Madden made our volcanoes explode. We loved drawing volcanoes and writing words relating to volcanoes in our free writing copy. Look at the lovely pictures of volcanoes we coloured in.
To celebrate Pancake Tuesday we had some delicious pancakes in school. We had a choice of lemon and sugar or Nutella. Most of the boys picked Nutella! They were yummy! In November we planted tulip bulbs in the classroom. We put them on a dark shelf behind our library for winter. In February we put them on the window sill to soak up lots of sunlight and we gave them some water each week. This helped our lovely tulips to grow. We can now bring them home to show our families. |
