We had great fun on our school tour to Kids Zone in Limerick. Some boys used so much energy, they needed a snooze on the way home. The boys really enjoyed working on the different strands for Active Week. They had to work in pairs to figure out clues for orienteering. The boys had to run laps and navigate an obstacle course for Athletics. Dancing was great fun and the boys showed off their moves playing musical statues. Two gardaí visited our school and talked to each class group about their job. They talked about the equipment they use and how the boys can keep safe. While the boys coloured pictures of different vehicles that the guards use - bicycles, motorbikes, helicopters, one of the guards went around to take the boys' fingerprints. When they were leaving they invited us down for a tour of the garda station. We had great fun learning all about the Post Office in Aistear. Putting our writing skills on show we wrote letters for our friends and went to the post office to get stamps for them.Sometimes, the boys wrapped parcels to send. A different boy each day was picked to be the postman and delivered the letters and parcels to the boys. At the arts and crafts table the boys designed their own postboxes. We did such a good job that our postman John came into the class with his bicycle to tells us all about his job. |
