We had great fun performing our play 'Ralph the Reindeer' for our families and friends. Christmas has arrived in Ms Moloney's class. We have a Toy Workshop where we have been busy working as elves. We also have a new boy in our class, Mario the elf. He has been up to lots of mischief, but he has also been reporting back to Santa every night. We hope we all stay on the "Nice List". We are busy practising our Christmas play and look forward to our performance Wednesday 19th December at 12pm. This month we learned about winter. We loved talking about things that happen in winter, the days getting shorter and colder, sometimes it snows and the best bit of all, we get ready for Christmas. We also learned about animals that like cold weather. We talked about polar bears and penguins and we made some penguins in art. As it is winter time, we have been chatting about how the weather gets colder and how we can keep warm. This led us to chat about what some animals do to winter to keep warm, they hibernate. After reading 'Hog the Hedge' we decided to make some hedgehog friends for Rocaí Rua to hibernate with. After reading the story 'The Snowman' the boys tried their hand at making their own snowmen. We painted a background blue, then used cotton wool, card and felt to make the snowmen. During lunchtime, some of the boys spotted that they could make sets using their jellies. We learned all about our Families and homes in Aistear this month. In the role play area we created a kitchen and took on different tasks - making dinner, setting the table, sweeping up and ironing. After reading the story of the 'Three Little Pigs' we became builders and started designing and building houses. We also used the materials the three pigs used to make their houses. We were busy washing dishes at the water table. We sorted the furniture in the doll's house. Also, we had great fun playing the Rooms of the House game. |
