For Halloween our class made webs and decorated them using marbles. We put the marbles in 3 cups of paint - purple, green and navy. Using a spoon we put the marbles into the box from the cups and rolled them about.
They made a lovely web design. We learned the letter p in school this week and decided to make Pirate Hats. When Pirate Pete heard we had made hats he sent Junior Infants a letter asking us to complete 3 tasks so that we could have a pizza party. We had to read the story 'The Night Pirates'. We had to colour in a picture of Pirate Pete. The last thing we had to do was to follow the right trail to find the treasure but because it was raining outside Pirate Pete called to the school and delivered the treasure to Kathleen and we learned a silly Pirate Song instead. We managed to complete all the other tasks and sat down to our party. We had pringles, penguin bars, popcorn, pizza and drank some pirate's punch.
Each pirate got a prize and some gold going home. It was a perfect party. After learning about the letter i in school,we thought about all the things that start with 'i' and decided to make some Indian Headbands.First we used paint, corks and spools to print different designs on our headbands. When they were dry we used glue to stick feathers on them. Don't we look like incredible Indians!
Today is National Tree day. We learned all about the different parts of the tree - the trunk, the roots, the branches, the bark and the leaves. Outside we found the different parts of the tree such as the branches. Then we did a bark rubbing using crayons and paper. We love trees. Our class decided to make Eire óg jerseys for the county final. First we painted the jerseys light blue. Then we stuck on the numbers with glue. Each boy had a different number jerseys. Up Eire Og!
This week we learned the nursery rhyme Baa Baa Black Sheep. The boys acted out the different characters in the rhyme - the sheep, the master, the dame and the little boy. Using pictures we put the rhyme back together in the right order. For art we decorated Baa Baa Black Sheep using different materials - crepe paper, felt, cardboard and wool.
