Our Aistear theme for February is The Vet's. We were lucky enough to get a visit from Caroline the Vet and Ms. Walshe brought in her dog Bolt to see us. In our Role play area we played the role of Vet and customer. We waited in the waiting room with out sick animals until the vet called us into the surgery. In our construction area we built a farm for the animals. In our Junk Art station we played a game where we had to match the animal to their home and then we talked about what animals make good pets. On the last station we played a game called " Quack Quack".
Vet Caroline & veterinary nurse Nicole came to visit our school. They told the boys all about how they care for animals. They told us about how to care for pets, how they look after their teeth & how they check if their ears are healthy. The Vet. Ms Moloneys class enjoying Aistear. Home corner “The Vets Surgery”, small world & construction. At the construction station the boys made fields and put the animals into the fields (categorising). Categorising is one of our Oral Language learning outcomes this term. |
