During active week while the weather was lovely we went to the playground near our school. We picked a partner, walked very carefully along the path and went to the playground. We had great fun on the climbing frame, swings, roundabout, see-saw and slides. This month we have been working from the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We learnt all about the life cycle of the butterfly, we sequenced the story, we counted the food, we worked with a partner to make butterflies in art and we wrote our very own caterpillar books. We became the author and illustrator! They are on display on the wall outside our classroom. For the month of May we changed our aistear groups. One group plays with sand, one group plays with play dough, one group builds with lego and one group has been playing shop. We rotate these groups each morning so everyone gets a chance to play with everything over the week. After Easter we started hurling training. We love hurling. It's great fun. We have been learning how to hold the hurley properly, throw and catch and we played a mini match last week. We will have four weeks of hurling during the month of May. Our challenge for Active Week warm-up is to work together and try to run from Nenagh to Limerick. Hopefully we will be successful in completing this. Our strand for the first day of Active week is Athletics. It was great fun completing the obstacle course on a lovely sunny morning. Christy from Nenagh Éire Óg has started hurling training. The boys love learning the skills required to make a good hurler. |
