Our Aistear theme for January is Fruit and Vegetables. After working on learning the difference between fruit and vegetables and playing sorting activities we decided to open a fruit and vegetable shop in our socio-dramatic area. We decided on how much we would charge for our fruit and vegetables and even had some special offers. After going to the bank for some money armed with their shopping lists the boys went shopping. In the construction area all hands were on deck to build fruit and vegetable shops. Using playdough the boys worked at making fruit and vegetables to sell in our shop. The boys used old Aldi and Lidl catalogues to cut out pictures of different fruit and vegetables and sticking them in the right column. Chatting about the fruit and vegetable shop led us to discussing more shops and buildings in our town. We then made our own town in the small world area. Junior Infants have been busy working on patterns for maths. The boys made patterns using peg boards, counters, threading spools and on the interactive whiteboard. Our Active Day for January was focused on gymnastics. We had great fun trying out the all the activities. Ms Madden's class had great fun performing their Christmas play 'Ralph the Reindeer' for their families and friends. |
