Before we said 'goodbye' in March our school had been taking part in the Food Dudes programme. This programme aims to teach children the importance of Healthy Eating. To encourage the boys to continue eating healthy while at home we set them a few fun activities to participate in. The first of these was a sensory guessing game where the boys had to guess what fruit or vegetable was in the mystery box. The second activity the boys were asked to complete was a taste test using their senses. Here the boys used all their senses when tasting a piece of fruit or vegetable and recorded the sensory characteristic of the fruit/vegetable. For an art activity the boys were encouraged to use fruit to create pieces of art. The creativity that the boys used was astounding. The boys were very busy with their mini beast Art in Ms. Moloney's class. Well done boys. They are amazing. On Wednesday we had a mini beast hunt. Here are some things Liam found. On Friday we had a mini beast art activity. We got some really impressive art work back. Well done boys. I hope you had lots of fun making them. Thanks to all your mammies & daddies for assisting you with the task too. This week Junior Infants moved on to y & x sounds in phonics. The boys did so well learning this new sound independently at home. They learned the new sound, went on word hunts to find things with the sound and they learned to write the letters. Here are pictures of Daniil letter writing, Liam on y & x hunts. Wiktor found x words also and Josh made y with his playdoh. Our S.E.S.E theme for this week was mini beasts! On Monday the boys completed a mini beast maths hunt. The next task was to go on a hunt outside and see how many mini beasts they could find. Benny went to the river with his grandmother and using a magnifying glass managed to find lots of different mini beasts. Their last task of the week was to create a ladybird using a paper plate and some paints.
Junior Infants did art at home last Friday. They were asked to draw two fun things they had done at home in the last week. We saw pictures of boys playing in paddling pools, flying kites, cycling their bikes, visiting donkeys, and playing with their brothers. Beautiful pictures boys well done. On Friday Junior Infants had art. They had to draw & colour a picture showing their favourite thing to do in Summer. The variety of work was fantastic. Some used crayon, some used markers & some used textiles. Super work boys! Daniil sent a beautiful picture of summer.Wiktor's favourite thing to do in summer is play with his brother in the paddling pool in their back garden.Liam's favourite thing to do is go to Donegal to visit his granny. When they are there they go crab fishing at the beach.
