Ms.Moloney's boys enjoyed eating their fruit and vegetables. We tried some mandarin and carrot sticks. Today we started Day 1 of our Food Dudes. The food dudes are here to help us taste, try, eat and enjoy a healthy amount of fresh fruit and vegetables. Day 1: Today we tasted Apple and carrots. Our Aistear theme for the month of October was 'The Doctor's Surgery' and what a busy month it was. Role Play: In the role play area, we opened a Doctor's Surgery. The receptionist was kept very busy making sure all the patients got an appointment to see the Doctor about their ailments. Junk Art: At the Junk Art station stethoscopes were created using egg cartons, pipe cleaners and tin foil. Water Station: The scientists were busy in their lab creating medicines. Construction: In the construction area our builders were busy designing hospitals and beds for the patients. Turn-taking games: Roll and colour and a Doctor's surgery matching game gave us a great chance to work on our turn taking. Cutting Skills: Our cutting skills were put to the test as we put a face back together. After learning all about Autumn in class, Ms Madden's boys decided to go on an Autumn walk. On this walk we spotted all the different signs that Autumn has arrived and even managed to collect some things along the way such as leaves, conkers, horse chestnuts and acorns. Ms Madden's class did some great work in the lead up to Halloween. Making Pumpkins We made pumpkin candle holders using clay. Designing Webs: Rocking and rolling was the name on the game as we designed our funky spider webs using marbles. Orienteering: We were great detectives and worked as a team to find Winnie the Witch's things Music: The Witch Rides We were also quite creative acting out the different characters in the song 'The Witch Rides'. As part of SPHE, Junior Infants learned that when we eat different foods our taste buds send messages to our brain to tell us what the food tastes like. Great fun was had investigating whether the food they tasted was sweet, salty, bitter or sour |
