We were very lucky to have two firefighters,Anthony Griffin and Ger Morris, visit our class. We learned how a smoke alarm works and how we should check that the battery is working once a week. We got to see all the clothes that a firefighter wears. We went outside to see the fire engine. We got to see where everything is kept in the fire engine. Then we got to use the hose. It was great fun and lots of boys would love to be a fireman when they grow up!
Mark Manley and Jaydon Clune were presented with a hurley and sliotar from Éire Óg for their winning pictures that they drew for an anti-bullying campaign. Well done boys.
We held an ice cream party for 'Down Syndrome Ireland'. We raised €80. First we played pass the parcel. Then we got our faces painted. We all picked our favourite flavour of ice-cream and we added strawberry or toffee sauce. We finished off our ice-cream with sprinkles. We have great fun! Mrs. Walshe's Senior Infants and First Class performed " The Gingerbread Man" for the school and the parents. It was a great success. Well done to all the boys! We read the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. We used different pasta pieces to represent the different parts of the life cycle. We put the pasta in the right order, egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly. We glued them to the card and our life cycle was complete.
