We went on our Minibeast hunt. We looked in the school garden and under rocks to find minibeasts. We carefully caught them in our jars and used our magnifying glasses to look at them closely. We looked at how the different minibeasts move. Then we carefully put the minibeasts back into the grass. Every day this week three boys brought in their special things for show and tell. Mark brought in his two pet mice in their cage.We got to ask Mark lots of questions about his pets. It was great fun to see the mice running around their cage. Some boys brought in their favourite toys.
We worked with the artist Olive, one group make some shakers. We also made some castle cards. Some boys made aliens and people using wodden spoons and forks. Mrs.Harte's class made lots of different Minibeasts. We made a giant caterpillar. Every boy painted a paper plate. Every part of the caterpillar is different. We made butterflies from coffee filter paper. We read the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. We are going on a Minibeast hunt soon.
As part of our preparation for our Centenary celebrations Mrs.Harte's Senior Infants made some snail trails with our Artist in residence.
On April 25th Killian Gleeson and Barry Heffernan, from the Tipperary minor hurling team visited our school. They brought the All Ireland minor cup and also the silverware won by the Éire Óg minor team in 2012.
Barry, a former student in St.Mary's Junior Boys, played a vital role in the All Ireland victory , in which Tipperary beat Dublin in September 2012. Both hurlers also played a huge part in winning north and county minor championships in 2012 for Éire Óg. Mrs.Harte's class had great fun using the parachute for our P.E. lesson. First we all held a different colour and played some games where we had to swap places with other boys that had the same colour. We all lifted the parachute up and down and went in under to make a mushroom. It was great fun to be in under the parachute and we played some games while we were hiding underneath.
