All of the first classes went on a tour of the Heritage centre. We looked at an old classroom and hurleys and things that our great grandparents would have used in school. Our artist in residence Olive has started working with the classes on different projects.
First class boys were given a variety of materials and were asked to design an alien using whatever materials they wanted. They were very imaginative and put a lot of thought into their creations Ms. McNulty's class learned about money. They then went to the local shop to practice using the money. Mrs. Slattery asked the children to get millk for the teachers and chocolate fingers for Paddy. They are his favourite!
On April 25th Killian Gleeson and Barry Heffernan, from the Tipperary minor hurling team visited our school. They brought the All Ireland minor cup and also the silverware won by the Éire Óg minor team in 2012.
Barry, a former student in St.Mary's Junior Boys, played a vital role in the All Ireland victory , in which Tipperary beat Dublin in September 2012. Both hurlers also played a huge part in winning north and county minor championships in 2012 for Éire Óg. |
