This month we had Gymnastics for our Active Day. Thank you to Ms. Shanahan for organising a great day in the general purpose room for us. We had balancing, rolling & sequences. We had great fun and we were very good at it after doing yoga with Siobhan for the past few weeks.
Our November Active Day was Athletics. It was a wet day so it took part in the yard, on the Astro turf, the shed & the hall. Most boys got to do their activities outside but everyone got the take part regardless of the weather. Our stations included running relay races, obstacle courses, throwing at targets and jumping for distance.
October Active Day was Games. We played soccer, basketball & “What time is it Mr Wolf”
Thursday 27th September was National Fitness Day. We took to the Astro turf for our annual Tug of War. We had great fun, the sun was shining and some of the teachers got involved too.
For our March Active Day we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge with “Rince sa Halla”. Ms MacLoone took charge to teach us all a lovely dance to traditional Irish music. Ms MacLoone is a former professional dancer & has travelled the world with “ Lord of the Dance”. We were very lucky to have her teach us on the day. Míle buíochas!
Spring has sprung in St. Mary’s Junior Boys and Active Day for February was outside in the sunshine. We had 5 activities this month focusing on our running, jumping and throwing skills.
Today we had our Active Day for January. This month we focused on Gymnastics. We had 4 stations;
- travelling on hands & feet
- a sequence
Yoga is back in St. Mary’s this month. Seniors & 1st Class will be doing yoga for the next 6 weeks

1. Running with a baton
3. A playground game &
4. Throwing at targets
