NEW - St. Mary's Junior Boys' to become a Community National School (CNS).
3/12/21 Agreement has been reached between the Bishop of Killaloe and Tipperary ETB for our school to become a CNS from September 2022.
Find out more about the Community National Schools (CNS) model HERE
See CNS parents information sheet below..
See Press Release below..
The Principal and Chairperson wrote to our school community to inform them of the proposed change ,
Dear parents and guardians,
I write to inform you of a very exciting development at our school. Agreement has been reached between our current patron, Bishop Fintan Monahan of Killaloe and Tipperary Education and Training Board (TETB) to commence the process of divesting patronage from the Bishop to Tipperary ETB. Our school will become a co-educational, multi-denominational Community National School (CNS) from September 2022.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our school to grow, prosper and continue to serve the people of Nenagh as it has done for over 100 years. The change will bring many challenges, but also many opportunities. We as a staff and Board of Management wish to reassure you, our school community, that we will strive to make this change a tremendous success, and look forward to working with you and your children to make our new school as good as a primary school can be.
We also understand that parents may have many questions and indeed worries about this change. Therefore it is important that you attend the information session next Monday evening at 7.15pm. This meeting will take place online to facilitate as many parents as possible. Here you will get the opportunity to listen to all parties as they explain where these changes have come from and the exciting opportunity for our school. It will also outline parental choice as a most important factor in this process, especially for parents of our current first class boys as they must decide the location for their sons remaining primary education. This, and all other issues will be addressed on the night. Please see attached letter from our Chairperson outlining the details of that meeting.
For more information on Community National schools, please see the attached Parents Information Sheet or see www.cns.ie
Yours Sincerely,
John Gunnell Principal. Miriam MacGrath, Chairperson BOM.

Chatty Kids Class
Today was an exciting day at St. Mary’s Junior Boys’ School with the renaming of our Language Class to The Chatty Kids Class.
The Language Class was set up over twenty years ago and since then hundreds of children have passed through its doors. It was set up to cater for children presenting with significant difficulties with oral communication (receptive and expressive language and speech intelligibility) thus impacting on their ability to communicate with others and access the curriculum. The class takes a max of seven children, both male and female from four to seven years eleven months. Children spend one to two years in the class depending on their needs.
