The rain held off today and we took to the school yard to run laps. We hope to run laps every day that will add up to 50km the distance from Nenagh to Limerick. We had relays with the baton, long jumps on the yard & obstacle courses on the Astro turf. It stayed dry all day so we could get active outside. We also got active homework to complete at home.

Our first day of Active Schools Week was a wet one, but we took to the GP room to play Queenie-I-O, The Bean Game & Parachute games. We did it!!!!!! This week our school ran 42km in total, the same distance it is from our school in Nenagh to Limerick City! Well done everyone!
On Friday we danced our way into the weekend in the GP room!!! Some classes took a trip to the playground. We had a brilliant Active Week & we are already looking forward the Active Week 2018! Thanks to Ms Shanahan & Mr O Meara for setting up all the events this week & thank you to the Active School Committee for helping with all the equipment. Today we took some shade from the sun and went to the GP room for Gymnastics. The hall was set up with stations and we all tried out rolls, balances, animal crawls and different ways to move our bodies. Today for Active Week we went orienteering. We had to find pictures of animals and mark them on our cards. They were hidden all over the school grounds, but we were clever enough to find them all! Tuesday we got active with the Games strand. We played games like "Duck, Duck, Goose" & parachute games. The sun was shining again today adding to our fun! Monday May 8th kicked off our Active Schools Week & the sun came out to encourage us to get even more active. For the Athletics strand we took on an obstacle course on the school Astro turf. We were running, jumping, landing, throwing & even crawling. For Active Schools Week 2017 we are taking on the Nenagh to Limerick running challenge! Every day we will runs laps of the track painted on our school yard. Every laps will equal 200m which our class can move on on the map. If we run 5 laps we will move the marker on 1km. It is 42km to Limerick so we all need to run as much as we can to make it to our destination. Active Schools Week 2017 will take place In our school from Monday May 8th to Friday May 12th. Every body in the school got a 60 minute challenge chart to see how active they really are during Active Schools Week. It is recommended that we do 60 minutes of activity every day so let's see if we can beat that for Active Schools Week! Get Active!!!!
