For our Maths we were sorting objects into different sets. We had great fun! We tasted things that were bitter, sour, salty and sweet. We recorded the results of our taste test.
This week we read a lovely story “Say Hi to Hedgehogs” by Jane McGuinness. The book taught us lots about hedgehogs. We learned that about their prickles (similar to fingernails), that they are nocturnal creatures with an excellent sense of smell. We now know they prepare for hibernation by eating lots of insects. We learned about their babies (hoglets) and discovered they are white and can’t see or hear for their first few weeks. For art, we modelled clay into hedgehogs. First we rolled the clay into balls. Then we pinched a nose into place. We added match sticks and they are now drying in our classroom. Once they are dry we will paint them and hopefully attach some eyes The Doctors surgery in Junior Infants was very busy this morning. There were lots of patients in the waiting room to see our doctor. The boys in Junior Infants busy building hospital beds for sick patients. The boys were asked to make medicine today but instead made hand sanitizer. Budding entrepreneurs. At the cutting station we talked about our facial features; eyes, ears, nose & mouth. “I Taste With My Tongue” Junior Infants learned about our tongues & taste. The “Taste Test” allowed them to explore bitter, sour, salty & sweet tastes. |
